Bill Kirkey
Engineering Tech

Bill Kirkey is a graduate student and research assistant at Clarkson University, persuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Education Science. He received BS (2000) and MS (2003) degrees from SUNY Buffalo in Electrical Engineering, where his graduate work focused on studying the optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures. His present work includes designing, developing, and deploying novel sensors and systems suitable for real-time monitoring of riverine water quality, as well as creating simple, functional sensors which can be constructed and used by high school students in order to provide hands-on projects that enhance their math and science education. On the side, he's always happy to lace up his skates for a game of ice hockey.
